Chair, Continuing Education & Research

Jeremias Sorongon

Jerry is a pioneer alumnus of Cebu Doctors' University's Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program. He graduated top of his class, receiving the department's first Gold Medal award for academic excellence. He dedicated the foundational years of his career by giving back to his alma mater through multiple facets as a course instructor, clinical supervisor, and academic training coordinator for the department's clinical internship program. At the same juncture, he had devoted time to hone his clinical repertoire by working as a consultant through private and academic partnerships for children.

In pursuit of growth and excellence, he moved to San Francisco, California where he completed the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Fieldwork Course at Loma Linda University and carried on to become a consultant for early intervention and autism. In May 2023, he graduated with a Master of Science in Communicative Sciences and Disorders at New York University and was given another excellence distinction, which landed him a teaching assistant position at the same university for seven consecutive semesters. Jerry's exposure to vast outlets and settings of the profession at an international stage fostered his desire to contribute to the growth of speech-language pathology in his country. He continues to aid in molding globally competent Filipino SLPs through collaborative ventures with local higher educational institutions.

As of now, he believes that it is the time to bring his advocacies to a higher arena, to carry the voices of his constituents to the national spotlight through the Philippine Association of Speech-Language Pathologists.
